My No Whining Credo, and Details on the Work in Progress
Last week, I shared some of my tales of woe, particularly of the technological kind. Don’t worry—this week, no more whining! (Although I did get a lot of very kind, positive feedback. Thank you, but remember the signs, people—don’t feed the writer.) I might even put my new credo on a Post-It on my laptop. The laptop I now have possession of—fingers crossed—after an additional multi-day diagnostic. See! This is why I need the Post-It credo, to keep me on the no-whining straight and narrow. To that end, I’m going to peel back the curtain a bit and share why Read more…
Wiping the Slate Clean of Avocados (and Other Stuff)
Still a little scattered here. I’m currently buried in avocados. Metaphorically, not literally. Not quite literally. You know how sometimes you get pulled into something (or say, you leave town), and you end so far behind in everything else that you don’t think you’ll ever catch up? That’s me and my husband right now. If you caught last week’s blog post (Shades of Winterport), you’ll know that our travel back to Hawaii hit some thunderstorm-sized speed bumps in Houston, resulting in a missed connection and an extra day of travel. Well, one extra day for us. An extra three days Read more…
It Was the Best of Times… And the Other Part, Too
This week’s blog post will be on the brief side, but I have a feeling you’ll forgive me when I tell you I’m writing it in LAX (3 a.m. Hawaii time) on a borrowed computer. (Don’t worry—it’s my husband’s, not some random person foolish enough to nap with their head on a jacket instead of their laptop.) It’s been a crazy week. Let’s start with the Bestest Part, since that’s more accurately Dickensian. I had a BookBub ad this week, which probably doesn’t mean anything to you unless you’re one of the million or so voracious readers on their list. Read more…
Where’s my Scotty (preferably with laptop expertise)?
Oh my God, it’s Friday again. How did that happen? It’s been one of those weeks like… I’m grasping for an appropriate metaphor. Okay, I’m not a big Star Trek fan, but if you imagine the Enterprise having some warp engine issues, moving slowly, then lurching forward in big jumps, as if Scotty is just learning how to drive a manual transmission… that’s my week. (Btw, in my imagined Enterprise, Bones is played by Karl Urban, because duh! Karl Urban.) Let me give you a few highlights. The week started with several days of constant rain and near-constant thunder. Monday Read more…
Feline, Thy Name Is Loki (Or It Should Be)
Okay, I’m gonna be straight with you guys, my blog peeps, because that’s the way I roll. (Is that an 80s or 90s flashback?) Originally, I’d thought sharing the Club Revelations short story here would be a good way to make sure I actually finished it. I also thought it would be a good way to cover my weekly blog post while I’m distracted by other stuff (stuff I will share in the coming weeks). Great strategy, until I decided to post the story on its own page rather than in lieu of a blog post, effectively doubling what I Read more…
